Mrs. Joanna Holder is a NCCPA board certified physician assistant. As an Atlanta native it naturally made sense for her to attend Georgia State University (Go Panthers!) where she graduated with a B.A. in business administration and marketing.

While Joanna enjoyed meeting and connecting with people in her many business roles, she always felt an inclination to support and connect with others on more meaningful levels. In an opportunity to explore this interest, Mrs. Holder was able to shadow various physician assistants. This experience ignited a new found passion which prompted her to return to her alma mater, GSU, to satisfy the prerequisites needed to apply for PA school. Mrs. Holder was accepted into the physicians assistant program at Augusta University (Medical College of Georgia) and graduated in 2017. While in PA school, Mrs. Holder was drawn to working with the geriatric community, inspiring her in her job hunt after graduating. She was happy to accept her first position as a PA-C in a private nephrology practice and was privileged to work with a wonderful group for four years. As her knowledge and interests in the medical community have expanded, Mrs. Holder felt eager to explore family medicine. She was thrilled to accept a position with South Dekalb Family Physicians in 2021. Mrs. Holder is currently a member of the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Associates.

In her free time, Joanna enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters. She also remains close to her parents and siblings and enjoys many family gatherings with her nieces and nephews. Joanna enjoys working in the yard and on home renovations. She loves coffee with her best friends and getting her girls together with their children. As an avid reader and a lover of fiction novels, Joanna heads a book club with her closest girlfriends who have all been friends since high school! She has a passion for learning even to this day and stays up to date with her medical education daily through journals, podcasts and virtual conferences. She is hoping to travel the world one day once her children are older.
